MORVEN — HOLLA! is having its annual 5K and literary fair on Saturday, May 14, with registration starting at 8 a.m.
The “Our Little Flowers” 5K and Literary Fair will start in Morven Community Park located at 229 East Main Street in Morven.
“The HOLLA! 5K and Literary Fair is one of the most exciting events in our region. Scores of people from Anson County and neighboring communities participate in our event each year. With a professionally measured route, we are recruiting competitive runners and walkers as well as fun runners from throughout the region,” CEO Leon Gatewood wrote in his blog post. “This is our seventh event and it is packed with fun, valuable prizes, highly esteemed authors, and entertainment! Our 5K supports HOLLA!’s literacy and youth programs. Please join us as we walk and run in support of the freedom of literacy!”
Sponsorships are available at the flower, leaf, stem, sprout, and seed levels; and, HOLLA! is also accepting donations. HOLLA! is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Community Development Corporation whose donations are tax-deductible and support many programs that improve literacy rates and social capital of underprivileged youth. These programs include the HOLLA! Eagles tennis team, Little Miss HOLLA! Pageant and youth development program, Rites of Passage youth development program, HOLLA! Youth Enrichment Summer Camp, HOLLA! Loves the Arts, and mentoring and tutoring services.
