WADESBORO — Many citizens from across Anson County joined together in worship and prayer to the Lord last Monday. Those who braved the late afternoon summer heat, were blessed with a refreshing breeze during the event held at the gazebo in Wadesboro’s uptown.

A long-held tradition in the county, stopped by the pandemic, town prayer meetings were recently petitioned for by Henrietta Barringer.

Speaking before Anson County Commissioners at their August 6 meeting, Barringer pleaded for the county to return to its “praying roots.”

Agreeing, Commissioners unanimously approved resurrecting the beloved weekly unity, fellowship and prayer event. Moving forward, community prayer meetings will continue to be held at the gazebo every Monday at 5 p.m.

Many notable guests and inspirational speakers are anticipated in the upcoming weeks and months.

Barringer said God told her to watch as people get saved through Wadesboro’s weekly prayer meetings.

“We will be praying for different things. If you have something that you know Wadesboro needs prayer for, please get with myself and Rev. Jo Ann Bennett and let us know,” Barringer said.
