WADESBORO — A South Piedmont Community College professor raised about $1,000 during his marathon in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Jim McAlhaney, a psychology and religion instructor as SPCC, ran his 38th marathon on May 1. In doing so, he helped raise close to $1,000 to the SPCC’s students scholarship fund.
As part of the SPCC Foundation, these funds will support student scholarships, instructional equipment, new programs, endowment funds and capital projects.
“Finished the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 3:43:19,” McAlhaney said on a SPCC Facebook post. “I didn’t go out to set any person records, but I feel good about this respectable time and I felt good the entire race.”
